Since its inclusion into Surf Life Saving in the 1970s,the Inflatable Rescue Boat has become an integral piece of lifesaving equipment. The main focus of these awards is the safe operation of the IRB in the surf zone.

Thie aim of this course is to provide participants with skills and knowledge related to surf awareness, aquatic rescue operations, communication systems and equipment and Resuscitation (HLTAID009). The qualification allows members to sign on as Water Safety Personnel during carnivals and Junior Activities and to participate in surf sports.

This course provides participants with skills and knowledge related to surf awareness, aquatic rescue operations, radio operations, resusication, emergency care, spinal management, communication, teamwork and Surf Life Saving patrol operations. This course aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to confidently manage a beach and patrol team as a Surf Life Saving Patrol Captain.
Entry Requirements:
At least 17 years of age at date of assessment.
Hold an SLSA Bronze Medallion or have held an SLSA Bronze Medallion and currently hold a patrolling award.
Have 2 years patrolling experience
Course includes online learning, face to face learning (online Teams) and one session of on beach scenarios.
When: Conducted by Surf Life Saving Wide Bay Capricorn Branch.

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID009 Provide CPR
This course is developed to meet the identified needs for a member wishing to extend their knowledge of providing first aid.
Entry Requirements:
At least 14 years of age at the date of assessment
Patrolling member or enrolled in a course for a patrolling award
HLTAID001 Provide CPR
The aim of this course is to develop skills in CPR. This Resuscitation Certificate is included in the First Aid Course.

HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy, includes CPR and can include First Aid
The aim of this course is to develop skills in using AEDs, suction, airway management equipment, oxygen during resuscitation and to administer oxygen to a conscious or unconscious patient.

PUASAR015A Crew small powercraft in a rescue operation
The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively crew an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in rescue operations.
Entry requirements:
At least 15 years of age at date of assessment
Proficient in Bronze Medallion
Completion of a verified minimum of eight hours in the IRB as a trainee crewperson
PUASAR014A Operate and maintain a small powercraft and motor for rescue operations
The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively drive and manage an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in rescue operations.
Entry Requirements:
At least 17 years of age at date of assessment
Hold a current Qld Recreational Marine Licence
Proficient in BOTH Bronze Medallion and IRB Crew Certificate Awards
Completion of a verified minimum of eight operational hours as a qualified crewperson.
This training is offered to all members who want to contribute in other roles within the club.
Core and Level 1 Official Qualification
Core and Level 1 officials work in a range of officiating roles at Surf Sports carnivals. These include Marshall, Recording Judge, Timekeeping Judge and Finish Judge. The course provides a basic understanding of the rules of events in surf sports competition and provides candidates with the knowledge and skills to effectively fulfill officiating roles.

At least 16 years of age
Financial member with Blue Card (18 years +)
Age Managers work with Junior Members aged 5 to14 to develop their surf lifesaving skills. The course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage groups of children in a fun, safe and inclusive environment.
Learning is online and mentoring and support is provided on the beach. Talk to the Junior Activities Chairperson!

Assistant Age Manager 13-15 years
Age Manager at least 16 years of age
Current Working with Children Blue Card (18 years +)
Lifesaving Training Officer Qualification
The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge they require to deliver surf lifesaving awards to members.

This course provides participants with the skills, knowledge and experience to competently assess Surf Life Saving awards.

This course provides participants with the skills, knowledge and experience to competently coach surf sport participants both recreationally and competitively. There are many levels of coaches in a range of disciplines.
